It’s all happening so quickly that it’s hard to keep track. Almost every day, a new report comes out, citing another social media platform expunging conservative voices. It seems to be happening on Youtube, Twitter, Google, Facebook.
The Red Elephants Youtube channel fears that it will soon be deplatformed by Youtube and it expects the same fate for Alex Jones’ Infowars. Red Elephants states that CNN is pressuring Youtube to remove channels that CNN doesn’t agree with.
Right Side Broadcasting, which provides live broadcasts of the White House press briefings, has been complaining for some time now about a form of harassment by Youtube whereby RSB question/answer sessions are subject to random, temporary black-out screens.
It’s well- known that Twitter censors by withholding blue check verifications and suspending accounts.
Google is also populated by Progressive activists and is not opposed to using the platform for political purposes. Laughably, just the other day, Google suspended any and all shopping searches for “guns,”— including toy water pistols, glue guns and paraphernalia associated with the heavy metal band “Guns and Roses.”
There is a new video of a panel featuring James Damore from Google; what astounds me most about this panel is that all 4 panelists agree that they are afraid of the power that Google wields. Thanks to Google’s massive size and reach, and Google’s massive data mining, Google is a force to be reckoned with.
And then, there is Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook makes little pretense of objectivity or even-handedness when it comes to conservative voices. A few days ago, Facebook changed its algorithm and President Trump’s Facebook engagement dropped a whopping 45%!
Babylon Bee, a Christian satire site that pokes fun with headlines like “Calvinist Dog Corrects Owner: No One is a Good Boy” is now threatened by Facebook after satirizing CNN with the headline “CNN Purchases Industrial-Sized Washing Machine to Spin News Before Publication.”
The manner in which Facebook attempts to censor is especially insidious. They justify their censor of The Babylon Bee by saying it contains information “disputed by an independent fact checker” called Snopes. Snopes is not an “independent fact checker;” Snopes is partially funded by Facebook.
Social media companies are powerful monopolies and and they are now using their power and reach for political purposes, and to squash conservative voices.
