Let me spell out two contrasting visions for how we can deal with the Covid19 response from Government.

They both involve a Winston.

At the very end of George Orwell’s “1984” we find the main protagonist, Winston Smith, sadly sliding into a position which means that his submission to the bullying all-pervasive all-controlling State is complete.

“He gazed up at the enormous face. Forty years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark moustache. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother.”

This is exactly where those zombies shuffling around wearing face-masks and begging for more lockdowns are at. Nine months of State propaganda have won them over. They desperately want to be compliant in the vain hope that this will keep them safe. In the process, they give up their freedom and are happy to do so. They have learned to love Big Brother Boris and his regime of Covid fear.

But there is another choice offered by that other Winston, Churchill, when he observed;

“What kind of people do they think we are? Is it possible they do not realize that we shall never cease to persevere against them until they have been taught a lesson which they will never forget?”

This is where at least some people are now at. They reject the incessant doom and gloom. They reject the tsunami of State directed propaganda. They simply won’t comply any longer. They see through the junk science pushed out by the SAGE mob and they do not accept it.

British Society stands at a crossroads and it has a choice.

It either accepts the submission of Winston Smith OR it embraces the rebellion of Winston Churchill.

Choose a side!
